Marsha’s Miracles

This page is dedicated in memory of Mrs. Marsha Dougherty.  She was a long-standing associate of Ethan Allen Elementary School.  She worked for many years in the cafeteria and then worked as a “one-to-one” for many of our students.  In her last few years, she assisted the learning support staff.  She loved all her students and all children who walked through our doors.  She listened to them and cared for them.  All children who met Mrs. Dougherty knew they were valued and had a voice.

Mrs. Dougherty was more than just a face among the staff of Ethan Allen, she was the backbone of Ethan Allen.  She would often on her own time come into a classroom and assist a teacher when they were feeling unwell or needed two minutes to freshen up.  Mrs. Dougherty would bring an “I can do it” attitude to work which she passed on to all around her.

We here at Ethan Allen mourn the loss of our dearly departed co-worker, partner, friend… And in her honor with the support of her family, we are now going to host a May Day in her honor.

“Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an individual.  If people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honor for me.”  -Kalam
